Crohns Disease and Prednisone? When does it kick in?

Hi, I was diagnosed last year with crohns disease and took prednisone to start out then asocol for a whole year, well i have been having a bad flare and they put me on prednisone again, I have been taking 40mg for 3 days and it has no affect so far, how long should it take to kick in?
