Weird "clunking" or "crunching" sound coming from my rear penger side wheel area?

You have to state what year, make, and model as to try to help you when you ask a question as this stuff is hard enough to diagnose without looking. I am uming a front wheel drive penger car. The first thing to do is to lift and get under to look for anything obvious. I would look at what you state, struts, loose wheel bearing, something bent, or something loose. If you can't see anything, try rocking the car which can help to isolate the noise. A lot of these cars made noise that sounds like a humped strut, but it usually turns out to be an upper strut mount. The mount is just a hard piece of rubber where the upper part of the strut fits through and attaches to the body.
