Why does america worship false idols such as hollywood stars or government figures?

why do we see these people as role models for our kids. why cant we teach our kids to question authority whether it be parental, governmental, or religious. Phonys like Dr. Phil who are nothing but sbags with a 500 dollar suit teach brainwashed people how to run their lives.
